One of our favorite restaurants is La Castanya in Calle Escudellers, just around the corner from El Ciclo. And since recently we have even more reason for this: they have changed the entire lightning and now it’s my lamps hanging above the long bar at the entrance and above the tables in the dining room. I’ve made 24 lamps within my project ‘Bicycles that saw the light’ for this tapasbar, 14 for the tables and another 10 for the bar.

La Castanya is a great restaurant to enjoy excellent traditional cuisine in a local and cosy
environment. The open kitchen looks onto Escudellers street and doesn’t go unnoticed by tourists
and locals, who are a vital part of Barcelona’s identity.

Its two chefs, Matteo and Nico, have accumulated a plethora of training and experience in wellknown
European kitchens. The gastronomic offering is based on traditional family recipes, converted
to a selection of tapas and small dishes presented in a unique way, including the ‘punky fish’ and the
ossobuco croquette.

The restaurant has a large bar at the entrance, which is dedicated to ‘show cooking’, where house
specialties are openly prepared.
